So, I was considering Halo brand dry food, but I'm keeping my options open and still want more opinions on good quality grain and by product free cat foods.
I have 3 cats, all are a little over a year old. I've heard that Innova Evo is really good, although I've heard that it contributes to weight gain and one of my cats, Dodger, is already about 12 pounds. He's not unhealthy or overweight, but I don't want him to get there. The other two are females, one of which, Dodger's sister, Athena is about 10 pounds. The other, Madison is an American Curl and not related. She's about 8 pounds. So, none of them really need to gain weight.
The foods that I'm looking at are Blue Buffalo, Wellness, Wellness Core, Halo, Merrick's, and I'm still open to suggestions too. They are eating Purina One right now, but I want to feed them a high quality grain and by product free cat food.
How much do the larger bags usually cost? Are they usually available at Petsmart or Petco? I'm willing to shop at a lesser known store if I have too. Also, how long does a large bag last? I know that they eat less of the grain free type foods, but I just want to make sure that I won't go through a bag a week.
I also feed them wet food once a week. I'm in the process of seeing if they'll eat Blue Buffalo wet food, but I'll probably feed the same brand wet food as dry once I find one that I like and that they'll eat.
Any suggestions are welcome. My cats aren't really picky eaters, but they sure do love their salmon!
ok heres the thing......and my cat hates canned food and the "raw diet" so please don't reccomend that. my cat was on nature's recipe chicken and rice and had horrible smelly stool (it looked like butterscotch pudding) took him to the vet (he is 5, neutered, and fully indoor, and hasn't had any contact with other cats in years) his bacteria and parasite test came back negative. the vet gave me probiotics and nutro indoor weight management food, but still the "butterscotch pudding" stool. when i was away for the weekend my mom ran out of food, went to petco and bought meow mix dry for indoor cats (since it was cheaper) and BAM his stools are normal cat stools like he used to have! and he has a shiney coat and loves the taste. so am i a bad mom? his problem cleared up! i know by-products and corn products are bad in cat food, but he seems healthy and happy and his tummy is all better....
ken..........you don't have to be such a d bag! he doesn't like wet or raw he sits by his dish and cries and cries and cries. HE DOES NOT LIKE IT. should i starve him? would that make me a better owner? i care a lot about my cat that is why i am asking. if i didn't care then i would just go to the dollar store and get whatever i could find, but i don't. i take my cat to the vet annually and care about him a lot and that is why i asked. and i know all about the raw diet, i read several books on it. he doesn't like it. but wait im sorry what do cats eat in the wild? feathers? ya they might swallow some! intestines? probably. so if you are going to use that approach you are an uneducated fool...o ya and a douche bag btw and o have you ever even had a gf? or are you just a lonly man with a lot of cats?
i am familiar with the nutro recall and it wasn't the recalled food that he ate, and i know how to properly switch a pet's food. thanks for the advice though!

ok so i feed him 3/4 cups of food each day which according to my vet. is about half as much as im supposed to. he only gets like 3-4 small treats a few times a week. but he just keeps gaining weight. now i feed him this all natural dry food. he rarely gets wetfood cuz i was told that he shouldnt have it all the time and also he doesnt really like it. so how do i make him lose weight?
I just recently tried to give my cat Blue brand's chicken dry cat food. I mixed it with the original food like it said on the package but ever since I started that brand he has had diarrhea so I had to take him to the vet and got medicine ect. So now I am looking for a new food. The one that he had originally I can not find. But he was fine with every sample I got him when I first started feeding him dry food (have had this guy since he was 2 weeks). So I didn't think at all when purchasing a new food since he was ok with everything before.

Do not expect a very deep study, this documentary relies on the quality of images. For example some scenes like hunting scenes are filmed from the air and are spectacular. So it must be seen mainly for eye pleasure and as a story, not much for its intellectual value. Forgetting the beautiful images one may also think there's an ambition to do "total documentaries", talking about all the Earth (!). One may also think there's a quest to capture the beautiful images and show them in an ordered way and as a story, even thow wildlife observers know that wildlife is not an Holywood production. And finally when in this BBC documentary you hear things like "despite all the damage that have been made, there are still infinite natural beauties in this wonderful planet and we will show it to you" or something like that, one may think it would have been better to turn it the other way: "it's not because there are still many places where man hasn't destroyed everything, and it's not because there are still some species of animals surviving (see Amur Leopard) that we must not tell all this is and has been disgusting. We have two four-months old male cats, not yet neutered. One is named Mario, the other Luigi.
I feed them wet cat food in the morning and at night. During the day they nibble on Purina Naturals Dry Cat Food.
Luigi has kept normal weight, he is slender and his coat is shiny. Mario, on the other hand, has been putting on weight very quickly. He always seems hungry and drinks water very often. Other than that, he looks and acts healthy.
I've had cats all my life, but never encountered such rapid weight gain in a young cat.
Can this be tied to diabetes in a cat or maybe something else?
These cats eat the same amount of food. What bothers me is how fast Mario seems to be putting on weight. I don't think that's normal. Thanks for your help. I'll definitely address this with the vet when we have them neutered here shortly.
We have been told that our 12 month old kitty has slight gum disease and needs to eat more dry food as it's healthier for his teeth, and apparently tinned food can be bad and increase risk of heart disease, so we tried to change his diet to pure dry food but he doesn't seem to be eating it at all apart from the occasional nibble here and there, help!

She dips her paw in the bag and licks her paw but because the bag is tall, big and quite full she can't tip it over. She barely takes a break from purring so it's kind of a game for her. We give her a few morsels from a small treat bag and then she tries to get her paw into the small bag but just pushes it around. Whity is so cute and funny the way she looks at us. This cat seems to be always hungry and is kind of a gourmet cat at the same time. A gourmet cat is very picky when it comes to food. It won't just eat everything. Our gourmet cat Whity doesn't like milk but loves cheese. She turns her nose up at some brands of moist cat canned food and won't touch them. And she will only eat certain, usually more expensive brands of dry food. Other cats will eat the same food and be happy. Another interesting fact about Whity the gourmet cat is that she always leaves a bite of food on her plate as if to say I have manners. Enjoy the video.
My cat really likes wet food (the fish kind to be specific) but it's kind of a pain and it's a little more expensive. He's a year old if that makes any difference.
I'm not sure which is healthier canned food or dry food.
I don't know why but canned food seems better for them,
whenever I buy my kitten canned foods he eats them so
quickly and he loves the but when I give him dry food he
eats it but when I give it to him he doesn't really come
until like an hour later.
I have three 8 year old cats, all of whom are brothers. One of the cats has been having bad GI issues the last year or so. We had him de-wormed, tested for everything imaginable (parasites, food allergies, cancer) through blood work and xrays, and tried prescription foods. Nothing has shown up, two different vets have determined he has absolutely nothing wrong with him.
We have been feeding him Halo dry food, with Wellness wet food. He seems to be doing better than before, but he still has bad bouts of vomiting and diarrhea. Up until age 4, the cats were eating 9Lives and he didn't have any GI issues. We are hesitant to put him back on that food since it is such a bad quality. Also, he has no contact with any pesticides, chemicals, or any other harmful substances which could be causing this.
Does anyone have any suggestions for a great quality cat food (no chemicals, no by-products,etc.) for a cat in this situation? We have tried the prescription foods from the vet, but he won't go near it. Thanks so much!
I am looking for an all natural, but affordable dog and cat food for my animals. My dog has been on Ol Roy, Alpo, and Pedigree dry foods. I've heard theyre cheaply made. My cats are also on Friskies and Purina products. Price is important, as much as quality. What should I be feeding? My dog is very picky about his dry food. He prefers wet, but I know he needs dry along with it.
