Hi. I would prefer to go to a store to buy it but if I have to I will order online. One of our cats has been diagnosed with RCM (restrictive cardiomyopathy). Doc said we don't have to worry abt his diet yet. So far pills are helping but I want to do some research anyway. What are some NO salt or LOW LOW salt foods for cats? Brand names I mean.
Any links would be GREAT!! Or even just the names & I will look.
Thanks and Happy New Year!!
OMG-thank you SO much for that site!! I am looking it over now. How old is your kitty? Mine is only 6 1/2. I'm constantly checking on him. I wish both of our kitties the best
Jov and my cat crying constantly for some of our dinner..so we joked and let her try some of the raw brocolli (which is okay to feed.) She actually ate about 3 whole pieces before I thought of video recording. Miu miu is actually on a strict raw food diet(BARF Diet: read about it at barfworld.com), she gets some raw veggies along with raw chicken breast every day. So far we have noticed such a great improvement in her activity going up, and alot less sheded fur. I recommend switching any animal to raw food diet, cuz those dry kibble and even wet can food is pretty harmful to any animal
America's Veterinarian Dr. Marty Becker shares how Natural Choice indoor cat food along with an active lifestyle helps keep your cat healthy from the inside out.
Right problems:
1. My cats are kittens (8 months and 4 months), but wont eat kitten food, despite two weeks of trying. They were weaned by their previous owner onto really dodgy, dubious supermarket value food, and the only thing they will eat now apart from that is Felix, and not even the kitten food. What can I supplement their diet with, to ensure they are getting kitten nutrients?
2. What is the most nutritous, value for money cat food to feed cats? I read somewhere that cats eat until they've got enough nutrients, and my cats are eating double what they are supposed to and are still pretty skinny (and yes, they have been wormed). So if I try and slowly wean them onto a more expensive premium cat food, will it work out the same in the long run?
3. The cats wont eat dry food (we put down wet food 2 times a day and dry food all the time) despite the previous owner saying they ate that type of cat food. Even when you mix it in with wet food, they push the dry food aside.
We have had our cat for 2 years (we took her in from outdoors) and she's about 4 years old. She's very healthy and active, and she's around 11 pounds. I live with my parents still, so my mom was basically in charge of what to feed her, so she was eating Iams dry food for breakfast and then 9 lives canned food for dinner. When I started working at a Pet Store, I became more conscious of what to feed her, and decided to switch her to Purina Naturals dry food. When I saw how long it takes her to go through a bag of dry food, I realized that I can afford to buy her more upscale brands. I was in a hurry to buy her new food because her old food was running low and I wanted to keep enough to mix with the new food, so I had to pick it out at work. After reading all the bags, I picked Natural Balance Sweet Pea and Duck formula (dry). She seems to like it a lot, no vomiting, but I have read online that it is an allergy formula, and she has no allergies. I want her to get top nutrition from her dry food, since her wet food is 9 lives, which I know isn't the best.
Sorry that was so long, but does anyone have any advice/suggestions?
my cats love whiskers dry which is cheaper than the brand we feed.the thing is i want to do what is best for my cats and i hear alot of bad things about whiskers.is it wise to feed them whiskers if they like it.
the other brand is purina 1
we did feed royal canin at first because one of our cats had a bowel problem due to being given COWS milk as a kitten by the BREEDER.

I saw the posts where a combination of dry and moist food should be given. I've just been feeding EVO. She DOES seem a little constipated, is that the rationale for adding soft food to the diet? Thanks, Cyn
Well, duh, I figured dry food was good for their teeth like dogs. Thank you for the info...I can't find the "reply" option any where, Cyn
My cat is almost 9 years old. All his life he has eaten dry cat food. Mostly meow mix...its the only dry food he would touch. He just put his nose up at all the other ones and wouldnt eat it. Then he started to puke and have hairballs all over the place from the dry food, so I thought I would try the canned food. He has really loved the canned food so far and hasnt gotten sick off of it. Do you think it is alright if I continue feeding him the canned food instead of the dry food? He is an older cat, and I also thought that the canned food is healthier for him and he seems to have softer fur since he has switched foods (He is a white longhair).
I have 3 cats. They have been eating Purina Kit and Kaboodle for a year. I bought Wellness dry cat food last week and slowly transitioned it to them. Even though I did a slow transition to Wellness brand, 2 cats have diarrhea now and the other cat doesn't want to eat it. Should I try a new brand of cat food?
My cat was eating California Naturals and I just saw that it was purchased by the IAM's company which is notorious for putting crap in the food. Last year my 8 year old cat stopped eating after his cat brother died. I tried all types of food and he refused to eat. He hates wellness, solid gold and felidae. He will tolerate Chicken soup for the cat lover's soul but I've heard some things that aren't great about that food either. Should I switch back to that? He doesn't like wet food and I've tried all kinds and restricting dry food. He refuses to eat for days if I don't offer dry. He likes dry food which is triangular in shape like California naturals. He also likes holistic selects fish formula but again, I know fish is not good as a staple. What should I do? My choices now are Chicken Soup for the Soul or Holistic Selects fish based.
Unfortunately, I am in an extremely rural area Orijen is not available around here. I had heard that blue buffalo was part of the massive recall in 2007 which is why I never tried it.
Does anyone know of any other organic brands which have a pointy shape? My cat is ultra picky and there is something about the shape that he needs.

I'm kind of stuck. I know that dry foods are terrible for cats, but all of the wet foods in the store have filler ingredients in them.
Would a dry food like Nulo, with meat ingredients (not by-products) and no grains perhaps be better than a poor wet food?
My cat has started to stop eating his EP dry cat food.
He has loved it since I switched him on it two years ago.
But in the last four months he snubbed his hairball dry EP food and I bought him the duck, he wouldn't eat it, and then I bought him the turkey flavor he ate it for two weeks and is now refusing it. He has been throwing up and has had terrible smelling bowel movements since the duck and more frequently with the turkey flavor. He is perfectly healthy and happy until he eats some of his EP.
I love that EP uses better ingredients and has never been recalled but I don't want to force my cat to eat something that he can't. I am worried that they have changed something in the ingredients. Or has my cat just gotten tired of it?
I think we had a sample of the Holistic at one point. But the same problems.
I've heard that some food can actually cause urinary problems and other things, i definately want to avoid this! Also is wet or dry better? or should I feed both? My kitten is 8 weeks old right now
I'm trying that Innova and Evo food, both canned and dry, and both of my cute furry friends love the stuff. The Evo canned is grain-free; however, the Innova dry contains some plant-based ingredients.
Is there a dry cat food that does not contain ANY plant ingredients at all? Meat-only? Protein solely? I know that most dry foods have starch/grain ingredients in order for the food to "stay together," so to speak. If is not possible, then which dry cat food has the highest percentage of meat and the lowest percentage of grain/starch/vegetable ingredients?
