Honestly, I'm really embarrased to write about this. I probably have the craziest mom in the world, so I hope I don't scare you too much. Alright, so it all started out with one cat sometime in 2000. Our first cat, Pumpkin was a stray and so were the others that we got later on. My uncle who's my mom's brother lives in a place filled with cats. I would estimate about 40-50 cats there. He would always complain to my mom that there was too many and he would shoot them. My mom got scared so she decided that she would neuter/spaid all of them by catching them. However, instead of bringing the cat back to the place where it was caught she brought it home. It soon became an addiction and before I knew it we had about 40 cats. It's too hard to count them all, but I've estimated about that much. If you think that's not so bad, keep reading. It gets even worse. Well because we live across of a street, many of the cats that my mom brought home get hit by cars or some of them run away. Not surprised. So anyways we currently have 32 cats in all- 24 cats outside and 8 inside. Yes, there's TONS of fleas. I can't even begin to tell you how much it sucks and still does to have to put up with so much flea bites. Okay, so the story goes on even more. If you didn't think 32 cats was that much, just wait till you hear whatelse my mom does. There's many stray cats where I live, everywhere actually, so my mom goes out to feed them at like 9pm and comes back home at around 12am or later. Yeah, I think it's about 10+ places, in which she leaves water, dry food, AND wet food. Can you imagine your mom doing that everyday? No, because that's freaking CRAZY! and I'm not afraid to say that my mom is. She goes to Wal-Mart/K-Mart/Target to buy cat food almost every other day or sometimes everyday. Honestly, I really don't know how we're doing it and all. We're not rich and I'm worried about the future.
sorry, I know this was really long and I know my grammar wasn't that good. I'm just really tired, (it's 2:12AM) but I decided to write about this, because it bothered me so much. My mom and I used to be really close, but now it's like I don't really matter as much as the cats. Oh, and I've already tried talking to her about it and she always ignores me. And most of the times we just get into a huge fight and I always hear the samething from her-
"YOU KNOW I DON'T WANT TO TALK ABOUT THIS!"
So I guess there's no hope...
My father bought my cat some all natural organic food made with venison. I threw the bag out a while ago, we use a plastic container to store the food. I need to know if anyone feeds their cat the Natural Balance Venison and Green Pea if they can tell me what the dry food actually looks like. The food was just recalled, and I don't know if that is what I am feeding my cat. Please HELP!!

My vet wants my dog to gain weight and told me to feed her wet puppy food mixed with her dry food because it's higher in fat. I don't buy the cheap food so this can get rather pricey (she is a 80lb Rottie mix). I ran out of wet food the other day but had some wet cat food on hand so I used that instead. She loved it! Of course.. But it is so much cheaper than the wet dog food! So for the last week or so I've been using the cat food instead of the puppy food.
Do any of you know if this is ok to continue doing? She is still getting all the nurteints from the dog food, I just wanna make sure the small cans of cat food she gets once a day will not hurt her.
My husband and I have 2 cats - both are 7 years old. We buy one of the best dry foods (in our area anyway) - Natural Choice Indoor Weight Formula ( a bag). Since we have switched from Purina Cat Chow to this expensive, no filler brand, we have seen an immense difference. Less shedding, little to no litter box smell, loss of weight (which both needed), shiny coat, and clear eyes. However, one of my cats has recently started shedding in clumps. It isn't what you may think. For one thing, it is ONLY around the collar area. One day I was staring over at my cat, and a patch of hair seemed a bit longer than the rest. I reached over to see what was going on, and the whole patch of hair came off! I am also concerned that it is only in one area. I checked her collar, and it is still an appropriate length from her neck. I am not sure what this is about. She has been on the food for over a year. I don't know if it is cause for alarm just yet in terms of a vet visit. Any ideas?
Also, I must admit, that we don't brush them as often as we need to. I did talk to my husband, and we are going to start brushing them again, but I don't think that is the reason the hair would be in clumps and only in the collar area all of a sudden? She has had the collar for years. I thought maybe she couldn't reach that area to lick, but again, she had the collar for years. She must have been able to at one point in time or like I said, this is a recent thing. I am puzzled by this...
To clarify, she does not have any bald spots.
I have 3 cats, 2 are overweight but the one looks like a little butterball turkey = P They have always eaten and enjoyed the purina pro-plan cat food. My vet has advised me that my one cat may have had dry skin do to an allergy to fish so we feed the kind without fish, I believe it is the turkey type. My last bag I bought I purchased the healthy weight/ low fat food for chunky kitties = ) My one cat has always shed a lot and had dandruff (the one believed to have the allergy to fish) but now I am noticing that my other two cats have dandruff too. My question is could it be because of the low fat food or is it just coincidence? They are all healthy with silky fur, brushed twice a week and feed high quality canned food in their diet also so I just cant figure out what gives. Is there a DRY cat food that is better than the purina pro-plan that I could try feeding them? My cats REFUSED to eat the innova evo cat food so I can't use that. Again, I do feed high quality canned food also so please don't tell me about how bad the dry is. If anyone can tell me why one my one short haired calico sheds so bad too that would also be appreciated. I use a shedding blade and brush on her and I don't think the wads of hair would ever stop coming off if I kept on brushing.

My cat is sometimes sick straight after eating her food..is this normal?
She's a healthy 5 year old cat, shes not skinny or fat shes just right but about once a fortnight she brings up her food straight after eating it. its not sick looking but chewed up food but you can hear her reaching for it a bit.
Shes been doing this for a few years really and i have changed her food a couple of times she still does it.
i only ever buy her dry food,mainly because i live in Southern Spain and wet food attracts ants so i buy her quite a costly dry food packed with all the vitamins.
She is also a house cat so she never mixes with other cats or eats dirty things and i only ever give her fresh water not milk.
I think im putting this down to her eating dead quick sometimes and perhaps she has trouble digesting her food but other than that shes a really healthy looking cat.
what do you think? ive never had cats in the past so this could be a normal thing for some cats.
no not really they are just like small chunks about half the size of a peanut each. i will try the natural balance
my cat just got back from a 4 day stay at the vet cause he was sick. he acts way diff now, and he will only eat the really soft food. he sniffs the dry food and cat treats like he wants it, but he wont eat it. i also noticed his mouth has a cut on it and it stinks bad. its always wet too. could that be from the meds they put him on? what i really need to know though..is how to get him to eat hard food again.
My new pet rabbit doesn’t like those green pellets, I buy the mix and she just picks the colored ones, and she doesn’t seem to like snacks with dairy, like yogurt balls. I like to spoil my pets so I want to treat her w/ an untreated food each day. yesterday I gave her a 1/2 of a small banana. lettuce is bad, right? Is spinach oK? are other leafy greens ok? My mom gave her a tiny leaf of cilantro and she loved it but I told her no more until I find more info, oh yeah how often should I feed her, I leave dry food, & water during the day, then @ night I give her a fresh treat, so far its only been apples and bananas. What foods should I avoid, and why?i.e causes diarrhea,hate it.
Also, do have any suggestions about entertaining them, we got several jingle balls,a wooden basket, a cat condo, cardboard box with shredded paper inside. I can’t think of anything else,she’s by herself all day except dinner time & wkends. i feel bad, they're
curious animals they probably bore easy.
My cats are just so spoiled(I have 4)and I know it's my fault,I want to give them dry food only and eliminate the wet .Should I go cold turkey? and what is a good dry food for indoor/outdoor cats? They eat dry food and I think 2 of them would be o.k. But my Himalayan might be hard to deal with.I would just like to give them wet food for an occasional treat.

I heard canned foods are usually better, so how do I make that switch if she doesn't want to?
And should I buy the same brand of dry food as the animal shelter to get started and slowly switch over?
I'm thinking of switching my 3 cats (ages 7 years old, 4 years old, and 7 weeks old) to the Taste Of The Wild cat food brand. Also what would be better, a mixture of dry and wet or just dry?
I got a cat from the pound (he's 9 weeks) where he was on Whiskas Dry Cat Food.
I took her home and she wouldn't eat what my other cat gets (raw fed, so kangaroo mince, salmon mince, chicken necks, chicken liver etc) so I went and bought a bag of California Natural (I don't know his allergies and it was only for short term otherwise I would've gone EVO) and a can of Eagle Pack Holistic Anchovies and Tuna.
She ate a little bit but still wasn't into it.
Well after it went off I took that away and gave her what my other cat eats, still no eating.
Will he starve himself or will he eventually eat?

BTW he is drinking and being energetic and cuddly.
