your cat eat better then i do (-____-’)
Why mess around with all this stuff. Just give them raw meat. My Cat just eats raw meat and bones, along with whatever it can find off the ground xD.
@bluegama500 because they do need some essential supplements. However, I do think they are putting some unnecessary things in there.
@Sjrevog Supplements my ass. They are Cats, all they need is meat.
You never see a Cat in the wild taking some vitaminC tablets for example.
@bluegama500 Cats in the wild consume every part of the animal, organs, brains, eyes, bones, everything. All the essential nutrients it needs are in there. However, unless you are feeding your cat the ENTIRE carcass of an animal, it will need those nutrients added to its diet… otherwise it could lead to serious health problems down the road. One ingredient cats CAN NOT GO WITHOUT is taurine, and if that isn’t supplied they can die. Pleae do your research… for the health of your cat.
@Sjrevog My Cat is healthier than the rest of the neighborhood Cats thank you very much.
They runs around all day attacking things, she is wild. My Vet said shes a healthy, alert and active cat. If you make a single sound she will turn her head at you instantly.
All the organs are just meat as well. All I feed her is raw meat such as chicken necks, legs etc.
Health problems down the road? Cats rarely have healthy problems. Only man-made Cats have lots of healthy problems.
My Cat has wild genes in her. She is a lot healthier and savage than other Cats. She is half Bengal(probably F1) half something else. All I know is she is wild.
I think people get too carried away with Cat diets. All a cat needs is raw meat in my opinion.
My Dad owned Cats all his life and never fed them. They just lived off leftover food. He never once had to take them to the vet.
Cats are top predators. They are tough little things. Don’t worry
@bluegama500 Only man-made cats? And organs are meat, yes… but organs such as eyes, brains, heart and liver and full of the important things they need to thrive… taurine, vitamin b, vitamin e, omegas. Chicken necks and legs are good (especially with the bones, that has calcium) but you have to give them organs too.
@bluegama500 Wild genes or not doesn’t make a bit of difference though… all domestic and wild cats are built the same biologically. All cats need is raw meat yes, but it has to mimic what they would eat in the wild. Wild cats get their nutrients from eating every part of the body… so only giving your cats chicken legs and necks isn’t good enough. And I had a cat who lived to 22 years with no vet visits and ate crap food, but that’s rare. Just please look into proper raw feeding for cats.
No I’ve known many people who have owned Cats, fed them Cat food and have never took them to the vet.
Sure their Cats were not unhealthy, but they never got one health problem.
Also, instead of just feeding your Cat eyes, liver etc just let it hunt little animals. It will eat the whole animal. Such as mice, birds etc.
My Cat is useless, it never even bothers hunting. Everyone else’s Cat hunt, mine doesn’t. I really wish mine would behave like a real Cat and kill something for once instead of just relying on me for food all the time.
Hi Dana and Gayle! With the cat diet, can you use canned Mackeral, Salmon or Tuna or must it be only fresh raw meat?
Thanks!
@bluegama500
Maybe he saw that welfare crowd from blackhood. And acts the same.
@MrsGladwell Canned is high in salt (which is bad) and is actually cooked.
@bluegama500 Some cats are born to hunt, some are born to be lazy lol – few of mine are avid hunters, a few wouldn’t know what to do with a live mouse if you locked them up in an empty room together!
@bluegama500 Sometimes the wild caught meat isn’t the healthiest – I’ve seen my cats get sick from stuff they’ve caught outside several times.
do i need to get ant bones of just ground chicken …. and does it have to be organic?
Human grade chicken, turkey, beef, etc. without ground bone. The calcium source is in the pre-mix. Free range, organic would be optimal, but not essential.
@jdharris209 kk thx
@jdharris209 what will happen if i feed my cat meat with bone in it?will she die?
@MissUnderstoodOne , yes you can get the ingredients and it IS cheaper, but cats do have a more complicated nutritional need so if one wants to make their own food it is a challenge. I know. I’ve done it and was quite worried about it.
I guess thet challenge is the taurine. Although…., maybe the BIGGEST challenge is to find a combination they actually like first. Then figure out how much taurine to add….
I’m going to try making homemade cat food for the first time today. My russian blue is just over a year old, very healthy but refuses to eat the same food over a period of time.
